This page explains what information Animalia (animalia.blog) collects, why, and the choices you have. Questions: cristian@automwise.com.

What we collect when you read the site

You can read every article without an account. We do not run comments, and the newsletter sign-up is not active, so we do not collect your name or email through the site.

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which articles are useful. It sets cookies and records pages viewed, how far you scroll, time spent reading, links clicked, referring site, device and browser type, and approximate location (country or city). Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. We keep this data for 14 months. Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser’s cookie settings.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and requested page) for security and reliability.

When you email us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to handle corrections. We do not add you to any list.

Google Search Console and Google Analytics access

The site owner uses a private, self-hosted SEO reporting tool (“OpenSEO Animalia”) that signs in with Google to read Search Console and Google Analytics data for animalia.blog. The tool requests read-only access, uses the data only to report on and improve this website, stores access tokens encrypted on our own server, and does not sell, share or transfer the data to anyone, or use it for advertising. Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions.

The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its use. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, for example by turning on the newsletter or adding advertising, we will update this page and the date above.

Buying guides and planned affiliate links

Animalia is preparing research-based buying guides and may join retailer affiliate programs later. At the October 22, 2026 review, these guides have no active affiliate purchase links. We have not added affiliate tracking code or an advertising network as part of preparing them. Existing Google Analytics use is described above.

When you follow an ordinary external source or retailer reference, the destination website handles your visit under its own privacy and cookie policies. If we activate affiliate links or advertising later, we will update this page before activation to explain the relevant providers and tracking. Our affiliate disclosure explains the planned commission arrangement and how recommendations are prepared.
